Place Value Hunt

Today in Maths we has a scavenger hunt using place value. Mrs Reid hid lots of different numbers around the room and we had to find them in alphabetical order (so we had to use our memory too). Along with numbers there were some cards that made us do silly things like push ups or jumping jacks. It was so much fun and we eventually found them all. We love Maths!

This week...

This week we are going to be doing some cameo writing using this picture so stay tuned to see what amazing work we can produce. We are trying very hard to paint pictures with our words and use words with fizz and bite!

Our homework responses for Week 3

A leader for a day

Our Inquiry is about Leadership and whether it is better to lead or to follow.
You are going to choose from one of the following three options and decide what you would do while being a leader.
  1. You are the Prime Minister of NZ for the day. Name some of the jobs our Prime Minister does then write what you would do as our new leader?   You can change three things…. What would they be?
Do you think being the Prime Minister would an easy job? Would you like to be this sort of leader?

  1. You are the Principal of Botany Downs School for a day. Name some of the jobs our Principal does then write what you would do for our school? You can change three things…. What would they be? Do you think being a Principal would be easy? Would you like to have this job?

  1. You are a house leader for a day. Name some of the jobs our House Leader’s do then write what changes would you make for your house and for our school? You can change three things… What would they be? Do you think being a House Leader would be an easy job? Would you like to have this job?

Our group challenge

Mrs Reid asked us to build a house of cards in our table groups and we struggled with working together so we all went back to the mat and worked out what being part of a group meant. Once we had thought about it for a while we were given another challenge. We were next asked to try and work together turning plastic cups over using only a rubber band with string attatched. It was so much fun and we worked together really well. We had to pick up each cup and turn them over to form a stack. Give it a go some time... it is tricky but fun!

Our Happy Feet

Today was Wacky Shoe day as part of the Travelwise Safety week. We decorated our shoes and had a great time wearing and sharing them. Some lucky people even won a spot prize! How did you go with wacky shoes? Remember walking to school (if you live near by) is the healthier option...

Why we go hard out for the hungry!

Odd and Even Street

We have been learning about Place Value and today we made our house then glued them onto our street. We had to decide if our number was odd or even and put it on the correct side. Our street looks really cool and is now hanging on the wall in room 22... come have a look!
