A wet lunch makes us creative

How clouds work!

Wow, what an amazing afternoon! We learnt about clouds and how much water they can hold before it rains. We filled a jar 3/4 with water and then topped it up with shaving cream (to represent clouds). Once we had our clouds ready we put a few drops of blue food colouring into some water then used a dropper to begin to fill our clouds. We were going to try to count how many droppers we needed but in our excitement we completely forgot! The clouds held so much of the blue water and then suddenly drops of rain started to fall. It was really cool and we want to go home and find dad's shaving cream....

We made it rain

We filled a jar with very hot water and placed a plate over the top. We waited a while then put a handful of ice on the top. We watched and watched and pretty soon we began to see the steam turning into condensation and because of the ice it formed rain which ran back into the jar.... what a very cool (and wet) experiment!

A new look

During the holidays there were a lot of changes made to our school. We got some more carpet like stuff around our room. At the end of the term we put all of our furniture in the middle of the room and when we came back we found this! We are all seated in a donut and we love it.... too much noise or no work done however and we will be back at our desks! :-)

Water cycle

We are conducting an experiment to study the water cycle.

We poured the water into a container and covered it with glad wrap and a rubber band. We had to predict what we think might happen.

A lot of us think the water will turn into a gas.
Some of us think the water will evaporate.
Some think there will be less water.
It will bubble at the top.
The water will turn into gas and fly up to the top.
It will turn into steam.
The water will go up if it gets hot.
The water will evaporate and then condensate and fall.
